10 simple ways to Rise this World Environment Day

Posted By: Rise Team|Dated: June 5, 2014

The latestEnvironment Survey 2014releasedyesterdayby TERI shows a fair amount of awareness among the respondents across eight major cities in India on the issues concerning environment.

Consider this:

  • 90 per cent of respondents believe that climate change is now a reality
  • 30 per cent of respondents felt that the government should prioritize environment over development
  • Overall, people perceived air quality had worsened and the number of bird species in their cities had also declined

Despite growing awareness, addressing challenges to the environment is still seen as a macro issue that needs to be dealt with by governments, policy bodies or not-for-profits. Individual action barely registers among the set of initiatives needed to deal with the environmental challenges at hand.

At Mahindra, we believe that even small actions by individuals can have a significant impact in improving the state of our environment.

So, we reached out to 10 thought leaders to share one idea that they believe can enable each individual to bring about a positive change in this area. The list included authors, entrepreneurs, editors, young tech professionals and each of them shared different yet actionable ideas to respect and protect the environment.

These simple, yet insightful change have the potential to have a significant impact on our environment and how we operate in it. Check out what they had to say.
